Mary Chapin Carpenter
Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter and 2012 Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Mary Chapin Carpenter has sold over 13 million records. With hits like "Passionate Kisses" and "He Thinks He’ll Keep Her," she has won five Grammy Awards (with 15 nominations), two CMA awards and two Academy of Country Music awards for her vocals. Her songs speak to the most personal of life’s details and the most universal. The Ark helped give Mary Chapin Carpenter her start with appearances at Open Stage and as a headliner in the 1980s, and we're beyond excited to welcome her back! Best of all, she comes to Michigan with a new album since we last saw her, "The Things That We Are Made Of." Australian singer-songwriter Emily Barker, whose latest album, "Sweet Kind of Blue," was recorded at the Sam Phillips studio in Memphis, opens the evening.
